Tools For Schools

Join the effort that has put more than 180,000 school supply kits in the hands of under-resourced students in our community. Your sponsorship ensures local children start the school year with supplies for successful learning.

How It Works

At participating schools, every student receives a back-to-school kit filled with new school supplies. For many children, these may be the only new items that they receive all year. Supply kits are organized and filled with the appropriate supplies each student needs to start the school year ready to succeed at any grade level.

Community Impact

Students served by the Tools for Schools program learn in academic environments with fewer resources and live in under-served communities. Sending a child back to school can be stressful and expensive, yet school supplies represent belonging and ownership of one’s education. Your sponsorship breaks down the barriers that inhibit access to necessary learning tools. Your support means students can address their personal needs and embrace learning with pride.

Remote learning and other COVID impacts have exacerbated the need for individual school supplies. With pre-packaged school supply kits, Schoolhouse Supplies is able to distribute supplies at a larger scale. Your sponsorship adds resources and increases the number of distribution partners to expand access to school supplies across the Portland Metro Area.

In-Person engagement: Tools for Schools Packing Event

We are excited to introduce a hands-on volunteer opportunity for 2021! The Tools for Schools Packing Event will take place over three days: August 24, 25 and 26, 2021. It will be an ultimate volunteer experience. Click here for more details.

Virtual engagement opportunities

Remote engagement opportunities can range from creating a welcome back banner for students, providing students with your company swag like pens or water bottles, to writing encouraging back-to-school letters. Your engagement opportunity will be mutually agreed upon with school administrators.
