19th Annual Celebrity Spelling Bee A Huge Success!
Thank You!
A huge thank you to the hundreds of guests who helped Schoolhouse Supplies raise $170,000 at the 19th Annual Schoolhouse Supplies Celebrity Spelling Bee presented by Fred Meyer. It was a beautiful and very funny evening at Revolution Hall on February 20, 2019.
Following a VIP cocktail reception and silent auction, guests enjoyed “Supper and a Show” in Revolution Hall’s lovely theater. As always, the Celebrity Spelling Bee was the featured entertainment! Congratulations to Team OnPoint Community Credit Union for earning the title of Spelling Champion thanks to the spelling smarts of teammates Lucas Houck (Corbett Middle School teacher) and Emma Mcilroy (Wildfang founder and CEO).
Mistress of Ceremonies Poison Waters presided over an A Plus team of Celebrity Spellers featuring celebrity chefs Chris Cosentino and Rick Gencarelli, screen actor Gregory Harrison and daughter and local entrepreneur Emma Langenhuysen, The Fab Lab’s Crazy Aunt Lindsey and teammate Jen Bae, VP of Marketing at KinderCare Education, radio hosts Stacey Lynn of K103 and Cort Webber of the Brew, OnPoint Educator of the Year and Middle School Teacher Lucas Houck, Wildfang founder and CEO Emma Mcilroy.
Rounding out the celebrity stage were official spelling judges: Ponzi Vineyards’ Maria Ponzi, Pulitzer Prize Nominee Larry Colton, and David Douglas School District Superintendent Ken Richardson.
Guests were treated to a special performance by Mrs. Tasha Miller who brought the house down with a spectacular rendition of “I Put A Spell On You”.
Special thanks to the David and Katie Gold Family Fund of the Oregon Jewish Community Foundation for the matching gift and to all of our sponsors!
